Finca “Cholopata”

Where the Research Began

Cholopata was the first Bolivian farm to provide samples for the research. The chemical composition of their coffee was analyzed using Gas Chromatography, allowing us to explore its unique aromatic and flavor profile in detail.

What immediately caught my attention was their use of agroforestry systems to protect and enrich the surrounding ecosystem. This sparked a key question in my research: could the presence of shade trees and diverse vegetation influence the quality of the coffee itself?

We know that climate conditions, biodiversity, and farm management practices all play a role in shaping coffee quality. Understanding how these factors interact is a complex challenge but it’s one we are excited to take on.
