Why does Jiwasa Kafi exist?
Today Bolivia is the 38 th largest coffee producing country in the world with 95% of the production still centered in the Yungas region. Around 95% of the coffee grown in the country is done so by small-holder farmers on plots of land ranging from 1 hectare to 8 hectares.
Bolivia’s coffee production reached 90 thousand 60kg-bags in 2022 less than 1% of the world coffee market.
However, Bolivia is almost as big as some big producing countries in the region with unique climate conditions, so why don’t we see it as much in the market?…
Bolivia is a landlocked country, which makes access to the global market challenging, as transporting goods to international ports is more expensive compared to its neighboring nations.
In addition, moving coffee from farms to processing facilities—often located in El Alto—remains difficult due to the demanding road conditions.
Our Mission
To showcase the exceptional quality of Bolivian specialty coffee to the world, while empowering farmers through fair partnerships and building a regenerative supply chain that nurtures both people and the planet.
Our Vision
A future where Bolivian coffee is globally recognized for its excellence, rooted in agroforestry systems that enhance quality and resilience. Jiwasa Kafi aspires to be a scientific reference in the coffee world, making Bolivia known internationally through pioneering research and innovation. Farming communities thrive in regenerative supply chains, where innovations like biogas-powered logistics transform coffee waste into energy, closing the loop for a truly circular economy.
